SARINA VARELA

Hello ! I am Sarina Varela, a current student at the University of Texas at Austin, studying project management within creative medias under the AET major.

Coming from a creative writing and live events background, I have always been in love with stories. By organizing art showcases, working in both a managerial & editorial fashion, and being a creative myself, I familiarized myself with the importance of communication, to ensure that the work collectively created properly reflected the message we desired to share.

At UT, I’ve kept the ideology of collaboration at the core of all I do, and feel a deep passion for the power of interdisciplinary work present within video game and interactive media production. From working on numerous team projects, such as a grant-funded medical education app, a published multiplayer game on Steam, or even this site itself, my belief is that all work benefits from the help of others, and that fostering open communication (even conflict) between disciplines encourages innovation.
